The Nouméa Conservatory, recognized as a "National School of Music" by the State, offers instruction in accordance with the guidelines of the Ministry of Culture's framework for music, dance, and performing arts. Programs, curricula, and orientations are established by the General Inspectorate of the Ministry of Culture. Student progress is monitored through continuous examinations and assessments conducted by external juries, thus enabling their advancement to the next level.

The Conservatoire des Arts de la Nouvelle-Calédonie encourages year-round learning by organizing public masterclasses with renowned artists, providing students with a constant source of inspiration and stimulating their progress.

In the same vein, students are encouraged to attend concerts and shows organised by the conservatory, which are integrated into their training.

Admission requirements:

Registration at the Conservatory is accessible by completing an application form. Beginners are accepted depending on availability. Children and students from the decentralized branches in New Caledonia or from other music and dance schools have priority registration.

Teaching locations and times:

Classes are held Monday through Saturday during the school year in various locations, including Nouméa, Mont-Dore, Dumbéa, Païta, La Foa, Bourail, Koné, Poindimié, and Koumac for music. Residents of Moindou, Sarraméa, and Farino can register in Bourail or La Foa. Teaching initiatives are also underway in Thio and Yaté.

Dance classes are offered in Nouméa and Païta.

During school holidays, classes are suspended, but we maintain access to classrooms for our students. Please note that the CMDNC is closed throughout January.

The CMD NC is a public institution with legal personality and financial autonomy. Its management is entrusted to a Board of Directors, while its team, under the authority of a director appointed by the government of New Caledonia, is mainly made up of civil servants dedicated to arts education.

The missions of the Conservatory of Music and Dance of New Caledonia are structured around two essential axes: pedagogy and art.

From a pedagogical point of view, the institution is committed to offering quality musical and choreographic teaching, covering the entire territory of New Caledonia in collaboration with the various public authorities.

In the artistic field, the Conservatory actively supports the educational approaches of the institution, while collaborating closely with local authorities, cultural institutions, and public services with a cultural focus to promote the arts within the community.
