"Treasures of the Media Library: That which nourishes man."
An iconographic exhibition.

On Sunday, October 4, 2026, from 9 a.m. to 17 p.m., entry to the Tjibaou cultural center will be free.

From October 2nd to 12th, 2026, the Science Festival returns to New Caledonia!
Nearly 40 free events are offered in 13 municipalities across the three provinces.
Workshops, experiments, visits, meetings, demonstrations… there will be something for young and old alike! The Science Festival – whose theme is scholarly flavours – is organised by the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Space and coordinated in New Caledonia by CRESICA (Consortium for Research, Higher Education and Innovation).

For the 2026 edition, the Media Library of the Tjibaou cultural center presents an iconographic exhibition whose objective is to highlight collections little known to the general public, in particular old iconographic documents, around food in all its forms.
Through around forty photographs, different aspects related to food are evoked:
its symbolic dimension, the work required for the production and harvesting of yams, the architecture of taro fields, traditional eating habits in New Caledonia, the collection of food, the preparation and sharing of meals in community.
