Fedyz, whose real name is Ferdinand Waikata, is a singer, songwriter, and musician from the Hmeleck tribe on Lifou Island in New Caledonia. His repertoire is primarily in the kaneka and reggae genres, with influences from Pacific music.

He began playing music in his childhood, particularly in a religious setting and within his tribe. During his high school years, he played keyboards with the band Djunya, led by François Uka, also known as Ackoz. This experience encouraged him to develop his own compositions.

In the early 2000s, Ferdinand Waikata joined the group Banian as a singer. In 2002, the band participated in the Tremplin Jeunes Artistes competition organized by Le Mouv' and won with several songs he had composed. He then continued his career under the name Fedyz.

His first album, Ihnim, was released in 2003 by Mangrove Productions. It was followed by several other projects, including Solitaire, Akilafot, Tracas d'hier, and Aventure. His songs address themes such as love, youth, daily life, and various social issues.

Throughout his career, Fedyz has worked with several musicians from New Caledonia and the Pacific. He has collaborated with artists such as Anslom, Justin Wellington, and Sharzy. He also participates in Kenu D Zyl's projects, contributing as a writer, composer, musician, or arranger depending on the track.

Fedyz has performed on various stages in New Caledonia, notably at Le Mouv', the Tjibaou Cultural Centre, and at events organized in Lifou. His career testifies to his lasting presence in the contemporary Kaneka scene and his connections with several generations of artists from the Loyalty Islands.
