Gayulaz is a kaneka group originating from the Nang tribe, in the Wetr district, on the island of Lifou in New Caledonia. Their repertoire combines the rhythms of Drehu kaneka with lyrics devoted to social life, Kanak culture, identity and contemporary transformations.

The group rose to prominence with Adriana, their debut album, released in 2011. The title track became one of Gayulaz's most recognizable songs and helped to bring the group to wider attention beyond Lifou. The album also included tracks such as I hnapapa ne Gayulaz, Ihaji, and Nouvelle-génération.

Gayulaz continues his journey with the album Jurédémé, referenced in 2012. The accessible sources confirm its existence and its precedence over Koi Elanyi, but they do not allow us to establish here with sufficient precision its complete list of titles or its detailed credits.

Produced in 2014 by Mangrove Productions and released digitally in 2015, Koi Elanyi is the group's third album. Its title is translated by Mangrove as "your future." Through this album, Gayulaz addresses the social, economic, political, and customary changes facing Kanak society. The group champions the idea of ​​a future built upon culture, traditions, and faith, while also acknowledging the transformations brought about by modernity.

In 2016, Gayulaz released Je me rappelle under the name Gayulaz & Co. The project pays tribute to thirty years of kaneka music and brings together several artists connected to its history, including Edou Wamaï, Akel Waia of Nodeak, Gulaan Wamejo, Jeanne Hue, and Vévélan Wahéo. Mangrove presents the album as a reflection on the role of kaneka in the emancipation and cultural transmission of the Kanak people.

The group returned in 2018 with *Sur les quais*. Mangrove presents this album as Gayulaz's fifth and describes an evolution of the group, moving between ballads and a revisited kaneka style. The title track is attributed to Dominique Taine.

In 2022, the EP Gezed hunei qazing was released, which is the most recent publication clearly listed on the main music platforms consulted.

Through this discography, Gayulaz develops a kaneka style that is both celebratory and attentive to questions of transmission, identity, and collective future. His career remains directly linked to Lifou and the Drehu music scene.
