Jyssé, whose real name is Jean-Krist Ukeiwë, is a singer, songwriter, and kaneka musician from the Xodre tribe in the Lössi district of Lifou, New Caledonia. Before developing his solo project, he was one of the co-founders of the group Oriatal.

In 2012, he released his first solo album, Sudrehu, on Mangrove Productions. Jean-Krist Ukeiwë wrote the majority of the lyrics and compositions for the album, which includes Sudrehu, Chante avec moi, Wiwizavi, Mon cœur est dans le noir, Serousal, Océane, Hnojy, Gayhnawe and Neköng.

His music remains rooted in Kaneka and Kanak musical traditions while incorporating other sounds. Jyssé notably uses traditional instruments alongside contemporary ones and champions an evolution of Kaneka that preserves its cultural identity. His songs are performed in Drehu and French.

In 2015, he released Espérance, a twelve-track album dedicated to youth, customs, education, and Drehu society. The title track pays tribute to his grandfather Dick and the Espérance school in Tiga.

Jyssé then continued his discography with I bozu so in 2018. The same year also saw the release of the single Coupe yeiwéné.
