Krys, whose real name is Christian Kohna, is a singer, guitarist and songwriter from Canala, New Caledonia. He began his musical career in the late 1970s with Krys Band, initially in a style influenced by rock and pop.

During the 1980s and early 1990s, his career coincided with the emergence of Kaneka music. He notably sang in Xaracuu and addressed themes related to Kanak society, the land, and identity in his lyrics. Krys Band is among the groups regularly mentioned in accounts of the beginnings of Kaneka in New Caledonia.

In 2011, Krys returned with the album Je suis d'ici, created to mark his thirty years in music. It included several older songs, including Un jour nouveau, Prisonnier pour son peuple, Parce que je t'aime, Sans toi, Je t'aime comme tu es and Nyô rè Kanaky.

He is accompanied on this album by several musicians from the New Caledonian scene, including Aki Mataika, Abo Saulia, Louis Perez, Beeman Nya, and Fedyz. The album was recorded, mixed, and mastered at Mangrove Studio by Derek Metivier.

Krys continues with L'Arbre, produced by Mangrove Productions in 2013 and released digitally in 2014. The album includes ten tracks, including L'Arbre, La mandarine de Canala and Pökwéta.
