The Blues Nights are not simply concerts but shows with a narrative, a concept, a set design, and a central theme that are constantly evolving. This annual event has become a major musical highlight in New Caledonia's cultural landscape. A must-see festival since 2015, blending various performing arts (music, dance, theater, comedy, etc.) and featuring around fifty artists in the style of musicals, the Blues Nights showcase diverse forms of modern music stemming from the Blues (Gospel, Soul, Funk, Jazz, R&B, Rap, Rock, etc.) to tell stories and take the New Caledonian public on a musical journey full of twists and turns through time and space.

- The First Night of the Blues: The Blues in all its forms offered a journey from the plantations of the Southern United States to Chicago, starting with acoustic Folk Blues from the Delta and evolving and ending with electric Chicago Blues.

- Les Nuits du Blues 2: Blues et Métissage explored possible intercultural, inter-genre, inter-style blends, always with a Blues base but using instruments as diverse as bagpipes, Irish flutes, the Theremin, mandolin, multi-effect electric guitars, etc. A significant portion was dedicated to the musical contribution of old Europe to the Blues.

- The Nights of the Blues 3: The 3 Kings Story aimed to tell the story of the three Kings of the Blues (BBKing, Albert King, and Freddie King) through their musical repertoire and a staged performance featuring two actors conversing in a garage, recounting various anecdotes about the lives and works of these great Bluesmen. An exhibition of paintings, “Blues Portraits” (watercolor, charcoal, pencil, pastel) in the entrance hall, accompanied these evenings.

The fourth edition of the Blues Nights: Roots festival grew even more impressive with the arrival of guitarist-singer Cisco Herzhaft (the only French musician to have played with John Lee Hooker), a storyteller with a wealth of musical anecdotes and a champion of traditional acoustic blues, the very roots of all contemporary music. The audience was treated to a journey into the heart of the acoustic and rural blues of the Mississippi Delta with the thirty or so musicians and singers who performed with Cisco on the stage of the Mont-Dore Cultural Center, transformed into a juke joint (a blues bar from the Southern United States).

- The Nights of Blues 5: Women of Soul was a tribute to women: musicians, singers, dancers, and painters. The guest of honor was Mary Jane Guiney, a singer and pianist of Irish origin who divides her time between Sydney and New Orleans. She shared the stage with nearly twenty of our best Caledonian musicians and singers: TYSSIA, DOLORES GREMY, EMMA VIRCONDELET, NATACHA VOLK, MALIE BOTHOREL, JULIA PAUL, SARALUNA, RAÏSSA, PATRICIA SÉGUI, NYNDIA COCCONI from Funk You, EVE ANDRE from Kharma Legal, CORALIE BRIAND from Zone 51, MAEVA JILLSON, AURELIE HAMAIDE, LESLIE BASTIEN from the Swing Sisters, CHARLOTTE RESENTERRA-COCHET around a repertoire of standards and original compositions of Soul, Funk, Blues, Rock and Jazz.

The stage was transformed into a New Orleans street where a “street band”, KING BISCUIT TIME with a full 4-piece brass section, accompanied the artists who took turns performing solo but also together, blending and harmonizing their voices in unprecedented duets, trios, vocal quartets until the finale where all our local female voices joined together.

The hall and stage, a vibrant street of Blues, Soul, and Funk, were brought to life by La Troupe Burlesque and populated by a few colorful characters. The roving Street Fanf'Art group was also there to welcome and surprise the audience, along with Hip Hop dancer Raïssa. An exhibition and sale of paintings by Hungarian artist Gabriella, on the theme of Woman, was held concurrently in the lobby of the Mont-Dore Cultural Center throughout April.

The goal of the Nuits du Blues is to offer the New Caledonian public ever-renewed musical shows of ever-improving quality with increasingly prestigious guests, promoting international exchanges and the musical and cultural enrichment of the musicians of New Caledonia.

These Blues Nights are definitely well established in the New Caledonian cultural landscape. They have become an unmissable and highly popular event for a growing number of loyal New Caledonians, won over by previous editions.
