Lexis, whose real name is Robert Truxele Watrone, is a singer, guitarist, ukulele player, and songwriter from New Caledonia, associated with the traditional folk scene of Lifou. His career is closely linked to Cemel and the musical heritage of Bethela.

In 2013, he released the album Melame with Cemel on Mangrove Productions. The project brings together new compositions by Truxele Watrone as well as a collection of older songs. The album is dedicated to the elders of Bethela and explicitly claims a continuity with the traditional music developed in the Hapetra tribe.

The music of Lexis & Cemel is rooted in the traditional folk music of Lifou. The project highlights the three districts of Drehu — Wetr, Lössi and Gaica — as well as the various Loyalty Islands, thus affirming a strong connection to the culture and musical traditions of the archipelago.
