Description
"Flying dance and nothing else, that's what I've wanted to do since I was 4 years old."
And that's what she will do: she didn't become a trapeze artist, but since her first classical dance class, she has been moving.
Linda Kurtovitch has already had a rich and varied career, marked by twists and turns, and by frequent trips back and forth between New Caledonia, her birthplace, and France, Belgium, and New Zealand, to train and share her art. For Linda, dance represents a vast field of exploration, driven by a need to express her state of being in the world, and by her connection to the world we breathe.
Her encounter with contemporary dance at the University of Auckland convinced her of the beneficial power of dance. She then decided to train in art within care and support settings in Belgium, and later obtained a second degree in cultural mediation from Aix-Marseille University. After dancing "at the bedside" of hospitalized children in Brussels with the collective Le Pont des Arts, she created and coordinated her own association of artists working with vulnerable people, particularly children in pediatrics, in Nouméa in 2013, before relocating to the Mêdipôle.
In parallel, since 2004 she has performed in and created numerous choreographic projects with various companies, immersing herself in diverse styles and aesthetics that have enriched her artistic development and practice. She notably discovered hip hop dance and subsequently worked with choreographers from New Caledonia and Belgium.
Driven by the desire to create and explore territories that tell her story, Linda brought to life "Duo with a mosquito" in 2010, a solo that she performed for 4 years.
Curious and eager for new knowledge, Linda has gained extensive experience both on stage and behind the scenes (production manager, artistic project coordinator, head of the Show department at the Tjibaou Cultural Centre between 2017 and 2019).
More discreetly, she has also been teaching hatha-yoga since 2016 in Nouméa and Brussels under her second name ielö(yoga).
