Loan Favan is a New Caledonian artist/designer and the founder of the jewelry brand Naula_studio.

The leitmotif of her work is her Pacific heritage. She feels the need to give back to her island and share its stories and traditions through her futuristic and minimalist designs. Thus, she creates more than just jewelry; she creates 'artifacts' that convey the spirit and mystical powers of the island.

"To rediscover my roots through my art, to pay homage to our land, to give an international voice to our culture through futuristic designs that re-question our present and future identity."

Loan Favan earned a bachelor's degree in design from the Design Academy Eindhoven in the Netherlands, specializing in "Man and Identity." There, she developed an affinity for metal and launched her jewelry brand, Naula_studio, during her studies. In 2019, she interned at Chrishabana in New York, where she created accessory designs for celebrities such as Christina Aguilera. She also completed an internship at Parts of 4 in Bali, Indonesia.

Loan has a strong interest in her heritage and will showcase it in her graduation film, LA KE BO. LA KE BO is a futuristic utopia where the lands of New Caledonia come to life, threatened by rising sea levels and climate change. In this apocalyptic scenario, the landscapes slowly transform in order to survive. These creatures are inspired by Caledonian legends and traditions, where each piece of land possesses a "spirit," a character, and a history.

The southern lands, the Natural Pool, the Market, the Coral Reef and the Tjibaou Cultural Centre evolve into "totem creatures" and display textiles, prints and silhouettes that pay homage to the place they represent and to Caledonian culture.

LA KE BO translates to "Who are you? Who are your relatives? Where are you from?" in Drehu - the Kanak vernacular language. A question that underlines the importance of our origins, our identity, and our sense of belonging.

LA KE BO is Loan Favan's first initiative to produce a completely local project. She directed, produced and recruited the project in collaboration with videographer Cédric Jean-Baptiste, sound engineer Julien Le Pape, slam poet Simanë Wenethem and local models.

Loan increases her professional involvement during her returns to New Caledonia. With the aim of passing on her knowledge, she visits educational institutions related to design practice, such as the Jules Garnier high school and the School of Design, and organizes workshops and lectures in the hope of fostering a generation of Caledonian designers and continuing to enrich Caledonian culture.
